A new era for Grange Park Youth Centre

Construction works on our Grange Park Youth Centre have now begun as Bambers Remedial Contractors move in with their diggers to demolish disused parts of the building to make way for fresh ideas.

A small focus group of young people have been working with Youth Workers to formulate ideas relating to the newly extended spaces at our Grange Park Youth Centre.

Whilst the downstairs areas will continue to be used for our Open Access and Universal offers, the group are keen for the space upstairs to be used primarily to meet the needs of young people Age 16+.

The focus group through wider-consultation with their peer group explored three core needs for this older age-group: Learning, Socialising and Fitness. They designed three areas which would enable these needs to be met.

This facility will open on the estate February 2025 and will be free of charge to access enabling young people Age 16+ to have a safe and attractive space to support with their studies, socialise and maintain good physical and mental health.

In September 2024 the organisation will be employing ten 16-year-olds as Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprentices, who will join five adult learners currently completing their Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Youth Work. This learning area will provide access to computers, a library of resources, independent study and group tutorial areas.

The works, funded by the Youth Investment Fund, is due for completion in February 2025.
